Rick Lytel is the founder and CEO of First Degree Innovation, specializing in leading scientific innovations from the lab to applications. In his career, he has created scientific and engineering ventures in photonics and computers, launched large-scale scientific and engineering laboratories, and served on the advisory boards and as a director for numerous startups.
Rick earned his Ph.D. at Stanford University, specializing in theoretical high energy physics. He has over 90 publications in particle physics, nonlinear optics, photonic devices, computer systems, and quasi-one dimensional systems. He is currently the CEO of Klar Scientific, a startup specializing in spectroscopic microscopy. He is also an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Washington State University, researching the physics and nonlinear optics of quasi-one dimensional systems.
